Jan 06, 2010 (The Australian Financial Review – ABIX via COMTEX) — The Australian Government has released a consultation paper on proposed changes to controlled foreign company rules. The modernisation of foreign income laws will allow companies with overseas operations to mainly avoid Australian tax on passive income. Tax experts are divided on whether the proposals will increase Australia’s appeal as a location for regional holding companies.
