Some medical personnel and professionals in the autism business fear and suggest that there might be some environmental factor that is today responsible for larger numbers of autism patients than there were some ten years ago. Whatever it is, their belief is that it may have changed over the period of time since the condition has been taken more seriously by the medical community. When you play with a child, they would either respond favorably or cower. A healthy infant should respond with a smile or something of that nature within months of birth. Not so with the autistic child, you don’t see the smiles, you don’t get the warmth; instead, what you get is just the distant look of neglect. Have you ever seen a child smile or laugh at a toy, but will not bring this toy to you? Be on the lookout, children like that tend to be autistic. There is no harm in taking the child in for a few tests to confirm or refute your fears. At least the sooner you are aware of whatever the matter is, you may begin to medicate. You might have seen an autistic child holding their ears and yelling uncontrollably at the slightest provocation, as though they were in some untold pain. Sometimes you might not be able to hear the sound they seem to be yelling about, but if you were very attentive, youd know to look for it because its certainly there. You see, autism makes it difficult for the child to speak or play, but overall, the child is not brain dead. You might want to learn to trust them so that they can reciprocate that trust.
